A non-profit organisation which supports Native American elders by providing clothing, food, medicine, supplies and companionship. Volunteers can contribute yarn and knitting supplies, or handmade knit and crochet articles.

Afghans for Afghans

Inspired by the Red Cross volunteers who supplied handknit items to soldiers and refugees during the first and second World War, this organisation provides handknit and crochets clothing and blankets to families across Afghanistan.

A wonderful organisation which provides grassroots donations of culturally specific needs across the globe. Knitters can donate money towards goats, llamas and sheep, which are then supplied to international families who rely on their animals to supply wool for knitting. This gives them a skill set and livelihood.

Knit-a-Square

A registered charity which collects 8" knit squares, sews them into blankets, and distributes them to AIDS orphans and abandoned children across Africa. Their 2011 goal is 175,000 squares, which will make 5,000 blankets. It's easy, it's fun, it's fast and it makes a big difference!
